Berman refers to senior Joseph Fulginiti as "a perfect example of a student who is living Manhattanville College's mission 'to educate ethically and socially responsible leaders for the global community.'" Fulginiti. an honor student and the editor of the student newspaper, recently returned from Germany where he was one of only eight Americans to represent his country at a model UN conference.

The Bonn International Model United Nations (BIMUN) is an initiative founded and supported by students of the University of Bonn. With the organization of an annual international model conference on the United Nations, BIMUN seeks to give participants an opportunity to learn about the role and the functions of these important institutions. Within this framework BIMUN/SINUB cooperates with local and regional institutions whose aim it is to promote international collaboration and international understanding.

Fulginiti was one of 160 students at the conference who debated issues ranging from financing for global development to disaster relief. His fellow representatives were from all over the world; his roommates from Switzerland, Hong Kong and Germany.  "It was great to be with like-minded students and to practice diplomatic skills," said Fulginiti, who hopes one day to use those skills in a professional capacity.
