Manhattanville senior Alan Delmonte is an international student from the Dominican Republic. Four years ago he applied to Manhattanville after the V.P. of Admissions, Jose Flores, came to speak about the College at his high school. Alan will be graduating this semester with a bachelor’s degree in Finance and a minor in Psychology. He is interested in healthcare management as a career, and has been accepted to Boston University’s School of Public Health where he will get his Masters degree in Public Health.
Alan also plans on supplementing his education by volunteering with the Peace Corps in the near future. He hopes to be placed in Africa. “I have a particular interest in international health and the prevention of the outbreak of disease in developing countries,” he said. “Joining the Peace Corps will be a great way for me to get hands on experience while helping others. In ten years I would like to be managing a hospital that I have started back home in the Dominican Republic.”
One of Alan’s recent accomplishments was to be one of four students selected to present his senior thesis at the annual Eastern Economics Association Conference. The Eastern Economic Association is a not-for-profit corporation whose object is to promote educational and scholarly exchange on economic affairs. The title of Alan’s thesis was China and India and the Global Challenges Facing the US Economy: The Struggle for Economic Supremacy in the 21st Century.
