Jennifer Confield is a senior at Manhattanville College, majoring in Management with a marketing concentration. She also minors in Music and Creative and Professional Writing. “I had been considering majoring in Management for a while, but I was unsure until I started taking some management courses,” she says. “I started to realize that this was a subject that really interested me and decided to make it my major. The best part of majoring in this subject is the fact that most of the professors come from successful backgrounds in management. For example, my economics teacher worked on Wall Street for many years. I have greatly enjoyed this course of study, especially as I have discovered that my management and writing classes really complement each other.”
Jennifer learned about Manhattanville when an admissions representative visited her high school in Goshen, N.Y. “After speaking with the representative, I decided to visit the campus and immediately fell in love with it,” she says. "I actually applied to only four schools because I really wanted to get into this one,” she says with a laugh.
She has also participated in Manhattanville’s Dance Ensemble since her freshman year, and was voted the group’s secretary in her sophomore year. “I have always enjoyed dance,” she says. “However I had not danced since I was very young, so I was nervous about joining the group. But the other dancers were really supportive and great about helping me learn to dance again.”
Jennifer looks forward to graduation in 2008, after which she hopes to work for a public relations or advertising firm in New York City.
