11.03.2007

soccer insertPURCHASE, N.Y. (Nov. 3, 2007)  – Manhattanville College’s Women’s Soccer team won the Freedom Title for the first time in a dramatic overtime game, clinching the program’s first ever NCAA tournament berth.

“This season and this win says a lot about the character of our team,” Third-year Head Coach matt Paton said.  “The way we fought through the adversity early in the season and kept believing in what we were going to do and what our plans were is a credit to the type of student-athlete in our program.”

This victory marks the Valiant’s third straight conference championship match, but first in the Freedom Conference and their first at home.  The team will play in the NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Championship for the first time in the 29-year history of the program.
