Juana La Loca: The Mad Queen of Spain

11.1-4.2007

Translated, Adapted & Directed by Daniel Jáquez, the Dance and Theater department presents Juana La Loca: The Mad Queen of Spain.

This is the story of the passionate Queen Juana, who ascended the Spanish throne following the death of Isabella, the Catholic Queen.  Juana was the most powerful woman in Europe, but her position couldn't save her from the Machiavellian politics of the day.

Soon after her husband's death, her father locks her up and declares her "Mad". This production explores whether she was truly insane or simply a victim of intrigue by those who wished to rule.
