Colin Jeffrey Morris is Assistant Professor of History, Director of the American Studies Program and faculty advisor to the campus newspaper, Touchstone. A native of Blackpool, England, he was awarded a Ph.D. and M.A. in History from the University of Rochester and a B.A. in American Studies from the University of Manchester. He has previously taught American History and American Studies at Lehman College/CUNY, SUNY College at Old Westbury and Bard Graduate Center. His courses include the American Places sequence, American Voices, History of New York City, courses on the Civil War and Reconstruction and seminars on Early America, The Mississippi, American Assassins and American Transcendentalism. Professor Morris has published articles and reviews and presented academic papers on self, performance and alienation in pre-20th century American thought. His current work examines American ruins.
