Boling-inline-photoLawson Bowling has taught history at Manhattanville College since 1984.  A Philadelphia native, he attended Emory University in Atlanta on a four-year National Merit Scholarship, earned a Master’s in Education at the University of Pennsylvania, and a Ph.D. in History at Columbia University.  He teaches courses on the twentieth century, the United States, Italy, economic history, and the history of sports.  He has published articles on American sports history and is the author of Shapers of the Great Debates: The Great Society (Greenwood, 2005).  He serves as Manhattanville’s Faculty Athletics Representative for the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
