Transfer Applicants

Transfer Requirements

Transfer candidates for the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts or Bachelor of Music degrees must supply the following materials to the Office of Admissions and Financial Planning:

  • Application for admission - Students using the Common Application or an on-line application will be considered for admission in the same way as students using the Manhattanville College Application.
  • $60 application fee (Online Application requires no application fee)
  • Official transcripts of all undergraduate studies already undertaken
  • Dean Recommendation Form from each undergraduate institution attended (statement declaring that the student is in good academic and social standing, from a dean or other appropriate official.
  • Personal Essay
  • Students who have not earned 30 college credits prior to submitting their application must also submit their official high school transcript and standardized test scores (SAT 1 or ACT).

Transfer students who apply as juniors must also be accepted by the department in their major field of study.

A personal interview is strongly encouraged and, in some cases, may be required.

Art and Music Students

In addition to following the normal application procedures:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Fine Arts candidates who wish to specialize in art must present a varied portfolio of their best artwork to the Art Department.
  • Bachelor of Music candidates who wish to specialize in voice or instrumental music may audition with the Music Department. The audition consists of:
  • Performance of three pieces from different musical periods, and
  • A test of general musicianship

Portfolio review and audition appointments may be made through the individual departments. If distance makes it impossible to visit in person, applicants may submit slides or tape recordings. NOTE: Bachelor of Arts candidates who wish to major in music and Bachelor of Music candidates will be required to pass an audition by the end of the sophomore year. We recommend that you discuss your plans with a member of the music faculty as early as possible in your college career.

Acceptance Plan

Transfer Admissions

Transfer students are welcome at Manhattanville. We offer generous scholarships, and we may accept up to 60 transfer credits, pending approval by the Academic Dean.

Accepted students must confirm their intention to attend by submitting their acceptance deposit fee ($350 for residents; $250 for commuters) by date listed on the acceptance letter. Deposit fees are not refundable. See Financial Aid for more information.

Students should submit all Admissions Requirements prior to the deadlines:

  • March 1 for fall applicants.
  • January 1 for spring applicants

Acceptance is offered for either the fall or spring semester provided you meet Manhattanville's Transfer Admissions Requirements

Once you are accepted:

  • The transcripts showing the courses completed at another college will become part of your Manhattanville Portfolio.
  • Papers or work from the previous college may also be included.*

* If such materials are not available, you may prepare evidence of the required skills after enrolling at Manhattanville.
