Returning Students

You should begin the Financial Aid filing process for the 2009-2010 Academic Year in January or February of 2009.

Should you require assistance, or if you are unclear on what forms you need to file, please contact the Financial Aid Office in Reid Hall, 2nd Floor.

Who must file an application?

You must file a complete Financial Aid Application annually to be awarded any form of need-based financial aid from the Federal Government, your State, or from Manhattanville College. This includes students who have been awarded only merit-based aid in the past (such as a Manhattanville Scholarship).

How do you file?

Renewal Free Application for Federal Student Aid  (Renewal FAFSA)

If you filed a complete financial aid application for the 2008-09 academic year, your FAFSA Renewal Reminder will be e-mailed to you in December.  You will be directed to use your prior year's PIN number to access your Renewal FAFSA on the Web.  You'll have to enter updated financial information based on your family's 2008 Federal Tax data.

Even if you do not receive your FAFSA Renewal Reminder in the mail, you can still access the FAFSA on the Web site and complete your renewal application on-line.

Free Application for Federal Student Aid  (FAFSA)

If you have not applied for financial aid from Manhattanville College in the past and if you expect to receive need-based aid, you must complete a FAFSA. You may file the new FAFSA by providing your family's 2008 Federal Tax data, obtaining the required signatures, and sending it in the attached envelope.

Filling Out the Forms

You are responsible for submission of accurate data; therefore, please read all directions carefully and pay particular attention to deadlines. For further information regarding financial aid policies, procedures, and deadlines, please consult the Manhattanville College student handbook, the colleges web site (www.mville.edu), or your 2009-2010 award letter and the award guide that accompanied it.

You MAY be required to submit copies of your and your parents' 2008 federal income tax returns, so be certain that copies of these documents are made before the originals are mailed to the IRS. (Note: The College reserves the right to request a certified copy of any tax return directly from the IRS.)

Deadlines

You must have filed either the Renewal FAFSA or a new FAFSA by March 1, 2009 to be considered for campus-based sources of funding for the 2009-2010 year. If you are required to submit further documentation for the verification process, you must do so immediately. Any file that is not complete by March 1, 2009 will be deemed late and considered only on a funds-available basis.

What happens next?

For those students whose files are complete by the March 1st deadline, award decisions will be made during April and May. You will receive your Financial Aid Award Letter and other required paperwork during the summer months.
