This workshop will focus on structures and strategies to implement schedules designed to improve student achievement. School districts will benefit most by sending teams to participate in this experience with three major focal points: scheduling, small learning communities and teaching in variable-length time periods. In this session, participants will begin to plan a comprehensive staff development program to make creative schedules work in middle and high schools.

  • Identify specific next steps for building a master schedule for your school
  • Plan an implementation for the three aspects of the role and function of a small community learning team
  • Create a spreadsheet format to identify timelines for implementation of the fifteen goals related to the teaming process
  • Plan a presentation to introduce a pacing guide, unit development plan, and lesson prototype for implementation at your school or district
  • Create formative and summative assessments to determine progress in making the schedule work effectively in your school
