Established as a School of Education in 1995, its program offerings go back to 1932 when it first offered an undergraduate music education program. The graduate education program began in 1965 with initial certification programs in secondary education, elementary education, music, and art.

Click to visit the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education site.Today, the NCATE-accredited School of Education offers programs for beginning teachers, experienced teachers seeking additional certification and professional development, current teachers seeking certification as future school leaders, and career changers considering teaching for the first time.

With 23 full-time Faculty, the School of Education offers 14 bachelor’s degree programs, 32 master’s degree programs of which 20 are available as combined bachelor’s/master’s programs, three  professional diplomas, 20 post-master’s certification programs, and three certificates of advanced study. The School also offers an accelerated master’s/certification program, Jump Start

The School enrolls approximately 200 undergraduate and 950 graduates and it is the largest graduate program at Manhattanville. Its signature community outreach initiative, the Changing Suburbs Institute®, works with selected schools and the community to help with the education of Hispanic youth, where seven Professional Development Schools are located. Extensive partnerships include Teacher Centers, private schools, and professional organizations.

The School of Education team of faculty, administrators, and staff believe that the strength of the School of Education is a result of the high quality of its students, who already are or evolve into highly qualified and effective teachers.
