Curriculum

The curriculum consists of 10 courses and a six-credit thesis. There are six required core courses, including an introductory overview. The remaining four courses are chosen from a list of 15 electives. Students may be eligible to "challenge" up to six credits of course work based on recent work experience by submitting a carefully organized portfolio to demonstrate competence.

The core courses include:

Financial Aspects of Human Resource Management; Organizational Development and Behavior; Legal Issues in Human Resource Management; Human Resource Strategic and Global Planning; Research, Writing and Communication Development.

The four electives may be chosen from among the following:

Training and Development; The Diverse Workforce; Leadership in Human Resource Development; Ethical and Social Issues for Management; Entrepreneurship; Staffing and Recruitment; Strategic Negotiations; Information Technology Management; Human Resource Information Systems; Consulting in Human Resource Management; Directed Research in Human Resource Development; Motivation, Creativity and Critical Thinking; Leading Change; Human Capital Issues; and Total Rewards Management.
