Beginning the Submission Process

When: Saturday, Feb. 13, 1-3 p.m.
Where: Barat House
A hands-on workshop intended for those who have finished short stories, essays or poems that they would like to send out for publication. We will review submission basics (including cover letter, bio, preparation of manuscripts) and investigate appropriate markets, both print and online, Plan to bring the pieces you wish to submit, and a draft of your cover letter and short bio. Free to MAW students and alumni ($50 for non-MAW participants). A few spaces are left.
Publishing Workshop

When: Saturday, March 27, 10-4 p.m. (light lunch included)
Where: Barat House
A full-day workshop for those who have completed a manuscript—fiction, nonfiction, children’s/YA—and are ready to tackle the steps to publication: query letters, finding an agent, doing a marketing plan, building a website, and more. Led by literary agent Jan Kardys, president of Black Hawk Literary Agency. MAW students/alumni $30/others, $75
