Passing the Torch! Leadership & Strategic Management
A 2006 graduate of our Master of Science in Leadership and Strategic Management Program, Ellen Lynch has put to good use the knowledge and skills she has gained. She writes: "The emphasis on team building and communications skills intertwined with the more classic finance and economics courses really supports the type of work that I do." An experienced private sector commercial real estate professional, Ellen is President and CEO of the Yonkers Industrial Development Agency. She is also the immediate past chair of the Business Council of the Westchester Board of Directors. 
For the past five years, Ellen has also been involved in the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship or NFTE (nifty) program. The task here is to instill business sense and a spirit of entrepreneurship in young people, especially public high school students in low income communities. Much of this work involves helping them learn new skills. It is here that Ellen's new skills are most in demand and where team building and communication skills are central. Passing the torch to a new generation is the highest achievement enabling young adults to grasp concepts and master skills which will enable them to succeed in their future careers.
